Location & Attractions

Imagine our prime location in France, the Dordogne, in the regional nature park of the Limousin, amongst bustling villages and towns such as Nontron, Périgueux and Brantôme, with loads to do and see such as a visit to La Grotte de Villars, Go-Karting, Swimming, Horse-riding and much, much more.

The Dordogne is absolutely beautiful throughout the whole year no matter what the weather. The scenery is magical, just driving around, through the green forests, over the picturesque hills and along the winding rivers is pure pleasure. The markets here are some of the finest in France. The area is rich in history with plenty of interesting sites to visit. Canoeing and Kayaking on the rivers are very popular sports as well as horseback riding, tennis and even a good old round of golf. All of this within easy reach of Carp and Cats.

Northeast Dordogne is often referred to as ‘Le Périgord Vert’ due to its green rolling hills, forests and prairies. Around Nontron and Brantôme, in the heart of Green Périgord, the Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park is a land of amazing springs and lovely chestnut trees, an area totally devoted to livestock, crop farming and traditional woodwork. The lake at Carp and Cats nestle within some of this wonderful woodland of the park. We are just 7km east of Nontron, 22km north of Brantôme and 5km north of St. Pardoux-la-Rivière.

Just 35km south of Carp and Cats is Périgueux, the capital of the Dordogne. The medieval part of the town comes alive on Wednesdays and Saturdays when local artisans display their first class produce at the local markets. Among the specialities are truffles, foie gras and ‘Pates de Périgueux’.

A whole host of brochures and leaflets are provided here giving you plenty of information about the area, activities and great places of interest.

Our local village is just a two minute drive from our site. Here you will find local shops including a small bakery, grocers, butchers, pharmacy, tobacconists, post office, and hairdressers. There is a petrol station and even a fishing tackle shop, but beware, it is very French providing only emergency supplies!

For dining or refreshment there is the local bar with a great atmosphere, a traditional pizzeria, a French restaurant and a hotel.
